2nd EAU Update on Prostate Cancer
Insight and skilled decision-making are crucial in prostate cancer (PCa) diagnosis and treatment. The 2nd EAU Update on Prostate Cancer, to be held from 14 to 15 September in Milan, Italy, addresses this challenge with an expert-led meeting that is both comprehensive and compact.
Unique with its fully interactive format, prostate cancer experts from across Europe will challenge participants with a critical assessment of standard and prospective PCa therapies. In collaboration with the European School of Urology (ESU), the two day programme will examine key topics in optimal PCa management.
From insightful overviews to point-by-point assessment of treatment strategies, expert lecturers will take participants through a range of issues on current guidelines, clinical dilemmas, and medical management. Stock knowledge will be tested against the impact of new drug research and evolving use of imaging technologies. With incisive, to-the-point commentary, the faculty will tackle systemic treatments, metastatic disease, drug sequencing and complications management.
Pre- and post-meeting testing will be required for a thorough assessment of the participant’s gain in knowledge and skills improvement. While emphasizing evidence-based medicine, interactive breakout sessions will explore difficulties in diagnosis, use of imaging tools, and effective follow-up strategies. Case discussions and topic-focused sessions led by a rotating faculty will aim for in-depth inquiry into contentious issues such as local salvage therapy, active surveillance and managing recurrent disease.
PCa18, as part of an onco-urology educational series organised by the EAU, is an opportunity in continuing medication education that responds to cancer and healthcare professionals looking for a practical, comprehensive and incisive update.

Experts tackle diagnostic pitfalls in PCa management
Diagnostic issues in prostate cancer (PCa) management remain a challenging area with topics such as screening, using the right imaging tools and the role of genomics, among others, all having a significant impact on current clinical practice.
Dilemmas in managing metastatic prostate cancer
The optimal management for prostate cancer patients with systemic, progressive disease was discussed in one of the breakout sessions, with A. Merseburger (DE) and P. Cornford (GB) examining various issues in treating hormone-naïve metastatic cancer patients and some of the controversies encountered by many clinicians.
Keeping up with fast-changing therapeutic strategies
Dr.Gina Torres-Zambrano from Madrid, Spain, talked about her impressions on PCa18. She is currently specialising in female urology but also has plans to later move on to onco-urology.
